Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopters

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter service is the longest serving search and rescue helicopter service in the world.

Founded in 1973 by Surf Life Saving Australia, it has carried out more than 21,000 flights ranging from medical emergencies through to search and rescue missions. On average over 2,000 lives are saved every year.

For the past 38 years Westpac have been the major partner, making it the longest corporate community partnership in Australia. Westpac’s support contributes to providing a valuable and viable free service to the public – no one has ever had to pay to be rescued by the helicopter and the majority of crew members on all services are volunteers. The service has expanded to include additional rescue craft in Victoria, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

You can support your local Westpac Rescue Helicopter service by making a donation at any Westpac branch.
